Star Student

Friday 12th July 2019 saw our third star student event, where students attended a high teas event in the small atrium. The event was put on in recognition of the students hard work and commitment to withholding the Academy’s high standards within all aspects of learning throughout the half term.

To qualify for the event the students needed to receive multiple 1’s on their report from staff, which reflects the excellent effort they have demonstrated throughout all subjects. The students who were invited also took home a certificate and letter to show their parents.

Seven Stories Visit

On Friday June 21st, Year 7 students participated in a Reading for Pleasure workshop run by Seven Stories in Newcastle. Students had the opportunity to discuss their reading preferences, as well as spend some time looking and engaging with a range of books, many of which have now been purchased for our school library. Everyone enjoyed the day, including Molly from Seven Stories, who said: “I thoroughly enjoyed visiting year 7 at Freebrough Academy. The staff at the school were organised and really welcoming, the children’s enthusiasm and respectful behaviour made my day a real pleasure!”

We look forward to more reading events in the autumn term

Year 7 represent Freebrough

Mrs Douglas, Learning Manager for the new year 7 students joining us on 15 July, spent a lovely morning at Hummersea Primary today. Along with Mrs Douglas were four fantastic representatives from our current year 7 group.

Year 6 had lots of questions about what to expect when they join us for transition, ranging from what they will eat at lunch time to what after school activities are on offer.

Year 6 are very excited about the all of new opportunities that are waiting for them at Freebrough. Amongst the many things they are looking forward to include trying out for the football team, taking part in experiments in Science, and making lots of new friends.

Fish and Tips evening

Once new year 11 students were presented with their new ties, they then attended the Fish and Tip evening. This presented students and their parents/carers an opportunity to pick up some valuable information regarding maths, English and science along with an extensive set of revision material. Thank you for attending; it was another demonstration of your support. For those who couldn’t attend, please find attached the important information that was shared. Your child will also have a of revision materials available for them to collect. These are available at student services.

Hope to see you all soon.
