Keeping your child safe online – Top ten apps to be aware of
The police force have issued a list of the top 10 apps that parents should be aware of. They suggest all parents need to know how these apps work and how their child is using them if they are. If your child uses one of these apps be sure to have a chat with them about why they are using it and how.
- Hot or Not
- Burn Book
Some top questions to ask:
- Does your child know the people they are communicating with?
- What information are they sharing? They should never share their location or personal details. They also might need to disable their location services so that the app doesn’t automatically share their location.
- How often is your child using the app? Is use of this too high, this could suggest your child is in communication with someone for long periods of time. Do you know who they are?
Remind your child to never:
– Share personal details
– Send or share photos
– Meet someone that they have met online
