Interim Deputy Principal (ref 1903-FR)
Fixed Term until Summer 2019

Freebrough Academy is a secondary Academy with 800+ students, located in the village of Brotton, a picturesque village surrounded by the beautiful green backdrop of the North York Moors National Park and the stunning Heritage Coast.

On the border between Redcar and Cleveland and North Yorkshire, the Academy is approximately 2.5 miles (4 km) south-east of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, 12 miles (19 km) east of Middlesbrough and 14 miles (23 km) north-west of Whitby.

Freebrough Academy is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school.

We have an immediate vacancy for an interim Deputy Principal with the ability and experience to lead on behaviour management, safeguarding and child protection. The Deputy Principal will deputise for the Principal in all aspects of the role as required.

We welcome applications from candidates who are immediately available to support Freebrough in this role as interim Deputy Principal, initially until the Summer 2019.

This is an exciting time for the Academy and offers an experienced senior leader the chance to shape the future direction of travel along with the recently appointed Headteacher.

The Academy is seeking to appoint an outstanding, motivated, inspirational teacher and creative leader who is passionate about safeguarding, child protection, the well-being of our students and their positive personal development. You will make a difference to the whole Freebrough community. You will provide vision and strategic leadership to a team committed to improving outcomes for our young people. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work with and motivate a wide range of people and students. You will be a designated officer for child protection and safeguarding in the school.

Supported by the CEO and the Rapid Improvement Board (RIB), you will join a team of ambitious senior leaders and will assist the Senior Leadership Team in providing a high level strategic, management and operational direction for the school. You will have the opportunity to make a considerable impact on the future direction of the school.

Freebrough Academy is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school. We are seeking a Technology Teacher to join the Design, Innovate, Create and Evolve (DiCE) Faculty. There are currently 5 Teachers and 2 Technicians making up the department, all of whom are specialists in their respective areas and passionate in their desire to provide the very best opportunities for our students and each other.

This is an exciting time for the Academy and offers you the chance to be part of shaping the future for our growing number of students.

You will be:
• a good teacher with the ability to teach a Technology subject at KS3/KS4. Resistant Materials would be advantageous but not essential
• a forward thinking individual who is passionate about their subject and loves sharing their knowledge with young people

There are currently 6 members of staff making up the department, all of whom are subject specialists who are passionate in their desire to provide the very best opportunities for our students and each other.

You will be:
• a good teacher with the ability to teach all aspects of Science KS3/KS4. Physics or Chemistry would be advantageous but not essential

Cleaner (ref 1823-FR)

The Academy has an opening for a cleaner to provide support on an ad hoc basis to our existing cleaning team.

We wish to appoint an organised and reliable person who will help to ensure that designated areas of the Academy are kept clean, hygienic and safe to create a suitable and positive learning environment for students, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will undertake a range of cleaning duties under the direction of the cleaning supervisor, such as

  • Dusting
  • Wiping down surfaces
  • Mopping and buffing
  • Vacuum cleaning
  • Cleaning toilets and basins and other associated cleaning tasks

The position we are filling is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and a satisfactory DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required as part of our pre-employment checks.

Salary: £8.50 per hour (SCP 6)

Start Date: ASAP
