Y11 Steps to Success Evening – Wednesday 26 September 2018
Last year we had fantastic support from parents and carers, who helped our students throughout the year by supporting them at home, encouraging homework completion, attendance at intervention sessions and critically, starting a revision plan early. This year we are looking forward to working with you and your child to ensure that they achieve excellent results.
To ensure we meet this goal we would like to invite you to a ‘Steps to Success’ drop in revision evening on Wednesday 26 September, from 4.00 pm – 6.00 pm. During the evening you will be provided with information about the exams that your child will be taking in the Summer 2019 GCSEexam series. The Assistant Directors of Learning for each faculty will discuss the type of tasks students will be expected to complete at home this year in preparation for these exams and the ways in which we can support students to strengthen their understanding.
We will also include a brief demonstration on how to use all of the revision materials that students have/will be given from their subjects. There will also be a chance to speak to teachers and senior leaders, to answer any questions that you have in regards to the GCSEsubjects and support available. Refreshments will be provided on the evening and students will receive a pack of resources to help them revise at home.
There will also be an opportunity for you to attend our Careers Fair which will be running from 3.00 pm – 5.00 pm. This will be a fantastic opportunity to speak to colleges, universities, training providers and employers about future career choices. We will have employers from the armed forces, local engineering companies and many more as well as information on apprenticeships and further and higher education. The event will enable students to talk to people from these organisations and learn more about the roles they could achieve and the pathways to get there.
Your support as always is greatly appreciated and we look forward to meeting you soon.
