Remembrance Sunday

Four Year 10 students, along with the Principal, represented Thornaby Academy at the
Remembrance Service held at the Thornaby cenotaph on Sunday 11 th November. The four students,
Harry, Kaitlyn, Keelan and Lilly joined a large gathering of local people and local dignitaries, including
Stockton MP, Dr Williams and Thornaby Mayor, Mr Walmsley to pay tribute to the armed services
past and present. The students laid a wreath at the cenotaph on Acklam Road and joined in the
touching service to commemorate the sacrifice of local men and women who fought during two
World Wars and subsequent conflicts. The Year 10 students were “immensely proud and honoured
to lay a wreath on such an important occasion.”
