September Return Information

26 August 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am delighted that all students will finally return to full-time school in September; we are very much looking forward to welcoming them all back. Year groups will have staggered start times to provide us with an opportunity to go through the Academy’s Social Distancing measures and expectations.

Our appreciation goes to all parents and carers who have adopted the role of teacher throughout Lockdown.  We know this has presented some challenges, but it has also been rewarding to see the work students have produced and the support you have given to help them achieve.  As you know, we have continued to provide a wide range of virtual learning activities and resources during Lockdown, but it is far more beneficial for children to be in classrooms with subject specialists.   With this in mind, I strongly urge you to ensure your child attends school on time every day.  Please do not hesitate to contact the Academy if you wish to discuss any questions or issues relating to your child’s attendance.

Health & Safety in School
In order to open safely and successfully, we have had to make lots of changes to ensure that we comply with Government Guidance on health and safety measures.  This includes introducing staggered start and finish times for different year groups, using different entrance and exit points and implementing a one-way system around the Academy.  We will be relying on your support in encouraging your child to follow our Social Distancing guidelines as we all adapt to the ‘new normal’.  I have enclosed in this letter a helpful guide for parents on how they can support the Academy in promoting Social Distancing alongside information on the measures in place at the Academy to reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19.  There is also clarity on how the Academy will respond to a suspected or confirmed case of Covid-19.

Arrangements for the First Week Back in September
Please find below the arrangements for your child returning to the Academy in September.  Please note, the start and finish times.  Students need to be in full school uniform and arrive through the main student entrance on their first day in school.  As there will be no opportunity for students to gather in the main building before school starts, it is important that your child arrives at their designated time. Upon arrival, all students will be with their tutor and they will be given information on Social Distancing expectations and guidance.  After that, students will receive their timetable and go to lessons.
