Thornaby Academy Weekly Update

Dear Parent/Carer

We hope you and your family continue to remain safe and well.  I am delighted that the Government intends to re-open schools to all students at the start of the Autumn term.  As yet, no recommendations or guidance have been published.  As soon as I have more details, I will share them with you.  In the meantime, we ask that you continue to support your child’s learning at home through Google Classroom.  Please remember, paper resources of all the learning is available upon request.  Please contact the Academy by email on or by telephone on 01642 763244 for paper-based work.

Wider Opening of the Academy – Y10
Next week we are extending the time Year 10 students are in school.  Each Bubble will start school at 8.30am and finish at 12.30pm.  Bubbles will attend on their usual days and take part in four lessons, English, Maths, Science, History or Geography.

Parents of Year 10 students are encouraged to contact the Academy to discuss their child’s attendance at school in the remaining weeks of the summer term.

School Uniform Orders
Parents and carers should have received information regarding the ordering of school uniform.  Please submit the forms as soon as possible so that the order can be processed.  If there are any queries regarding uniform orders, please do not hesitate to contact the Academy.  Details on collecting orders will be sent before the end of the summer term.

Free School Meals
E-vouchers for the summer holidays will be distributed before the end of term.  They will be issued in one email in £15.00 denominations.  The expiry date is September 2020 so e-vouchers do not have to be used in one purchase or shopping trip.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Academy if you experience any problems redeeming e-vouchers.

If your child does not currently receive free school meals, but you think you are eligible, please do not hesitate to contact us by email on or by telephone on 01642 763244.

On behalf of staff, thank you for your ongoing support and please stay safe.

Yours faithfully

D Butcher
